Nature Group

website

Nature Group is a port company that specializes in the clean up of maritime waste in the sea.The company is committed to giving waste, primarily oil, new value by recycling it.

Nature Group contacted my former internship company to take on this challenge. My role in this project was to design a boilerplate page and to design a mobile version of the website. The big challenge was to design a template that could be used for all the services that they have.

Debrief

The process first started with a brief debriefing on the previously completed work. I was informed about what the company is. I reviewed the brand book and all other deliverables that had already been worked out in that corporate identity.

For the ideation phase, I first visited various website components to gather inspiration. I looked at how other websites designed their FAQ sections and what kind of contact forms I could create. Based on my research, I designed a few versions for different sections of the website until I arrived at the final version.

Ideation

For the mobile version, I adopted the exact layout from the desktop website. I designed the mobile version with the assistance of my internship supervisor.

Design

The website was designed using Adobe XD. The design primarily features green colors as a symbol of the sea. In the design, the green color palette from the brand guide was used. The lines that constantly recur in the design were drawn as an illustration because they symbolize the sea. In the corporate identity, a line moves both in front of and behind a surface; this recurring motif is visible in both the mobile version and the website (desktop) version.

Reflection

This is the first website I have designed for a real client. I found the process to go smoothly and the collaboration with the developers was also effective. I believe it went well because, during this process, I learned the importance of continuously designing and iterating until I created something that fit the overall design concept. I learned how to design while adhering to a brand guide and picked up other small, but key, facts such as the link between headings and SEO, and proper button sizing.

The design therefore features many green lines; the design had to reference the sea and be consistent with the corporate identity. The boilerplate page I had to create was an explanatory page about a service they offer. The challenge here was to create a web layout in which the text is easily readable. This is where the green lines came in handy, as I could use them as dividing lines between paragraphs.
